I continue to apply the egg-oil emulsion mixed with dry pigment along with
glazes of color to establish the subtle shifts in color.
I slowly build layers of various
transparent paints, applying them with large round stippling brushes. Repeated
applications allow me to control tone. I use complimentary colors to achieve
the subtle color relationships. Details are done with small sable brushes. When
liquin is used as a medium, the transparent washes of paint dry overnight
making it possible to apply many layers of paint.
